National Events- 

• Assuring necessary disciplinary action against the guilty in the alleged rape case of an IAF officer in Coimbatore recently, IAF Chief V R Chaudhari on Tuesday said no ‘two-finger test’ was conducted on the woman. She had alleged a fellow IAF officer had molested her. 

•  In a bid to ensure access to menstrual hygiene for adolescent girls and young women, the Andhra Pradesh Government has launched a program under which branded sanitary napkins will be provided free of cost to girl students of Government educational institutions.

•  Ahead of the by-election, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday sharply attacked RJD chief Lalu Prasad. He said that Lalu Prasad used to do election campaigns from jail in the past.

•  Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday urged the Centre to enhance the reservation quota of Scheduled Castes and also undertake a caste census. Speaking in the Assembly, he demanded that the Centre should increase the SC quota beyond the existing 15 percent in view of changing dynamics.

• The covid-19 standing committee of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) will submit its scientific recommendations on the vaccine rollout for children to the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for Covid-19 (NEGVEC) in the next few days.

International Events-

•  The Biden administration on Monday reversed a ban on abortion referrals by family planning clinics, lifting a Trump-era restriction as political and legal battles over abortion grow sharper from Texas to the US Supreme Court.

• A major French report released Tuesday found that an estimated 330,000 children were victims of sex abuse within France's Catholic Church over the past 70 years, in France's first major reckoning with the devastating phenomenon. 

• Declaring that America’s commitment to Taiwan was "rock-solid", the US has told China that it will continue to watch very closely the "provocative" and "destabilizing" Chinese military activities near the self-ruled island.

Economy – 

•  The 30-share Sensex was trading 131.76 points or 0.22 percent higher at 59,876.64. Similarly, the Nifty rose 46.75 points or 0.26 percent to 17,869.05.

•  International rating agency Moody's on Tuesday upgraded India's rating outlook to 'stable' from 'negative', saying a recovery is underway in Asia's third-largest economy and growth this fiscal will surpass the pre-pandemic rate.

•  GST systems will periodically check the status of monthly returns filed and taxes paid by businesses since August and block generation of e-way bills in case of non-compliance, GSTN has said. GST Network, the company that handles the technology backbone for goods and services tax, said the blocking of the electronic waybill generation facility has now resumed on the e-way bill portal for all the taxpayers.

•  Investors have gained over Rs5.17 lakh crore in two days of equity rally, with the market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies surging to an all-time high on Tuesday.

• ICRA Ratings on Tuesday said the outlook for the Indian road logistics sector continues to remain stable, supported by improved economic recovery in September quarter, increased pace of vaccination and decline in fresh Covid-19 cases from June onwards.
