•  Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday said the State must concentrate on real issues that concern every Punjabi even as MP Manish Tewari said he never saw "such chaos and anarchy" being played out in the party's state unit.

International Events- 

•  Chief of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority has accused the United States of sabotaging the multi-billion dollar project, the economic lifeline of Pakistan, a media report said. The ambitious CPEC was launched in 2015 when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Pakistan.

•  Israel is expected to move forward with thousands of new homes for Jewish settlers in the West Bank this week, a settlement watchdog group said Sunday. 

•  A senior US diplomat on Sunday urged North Korea to refrain from additional missile tests and resume nuclear diplomacy between the countries, days after the North fired-off its first underwater-launched ballistic missile in two years.

•  China reported 43 new Covid cases, including four locally transmitted infections in Beijing, health authorities said on Sunday. The four new locally transmitted coronavirus cases detected in Beijing pushed the total infections in the city during the current outbreak to 13.

• President Joe Biden was hosting two pivotal senators for meetings in Delaware on Sunday in hopes of resolving lingering disputes over Democrats' long-stalled effort to craft an expansive social and environment measure.

Economy – 

• As many as 16,570 new companies were registered in the country in September, taking the total number of active companies to more than 14.14 lakh, according to official data.  Data from the corporate affairs ministry showed that a total of 22,32,699 companies were registered in the country as on September 30. 

•  Petrol and diesel prices on Sunday were hiked for the fifth straight day by 35 paise per litre each, pushing pump rates to new high across the country. The price of petrol in Delhi rose to its highest-ever level of `107.59 a litre and `113.46 per litre in Mumbai

•  The 30-share index opened on a positive note but soon pared the gains and was trading 114.93 points or 0.19 per cent lower at 60,706.69 in initial deals. Similarly, the Nifty declined 58.55 points or 0.32 per cent to 18,056.35.

•  According to the Crisil research report on economic recovery and pace of investment in the economy, the Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum (IEM) filings with the Government, the pace of environmental approvals, and the surge in foreign direct investments (FDI),the investments have already crossed pre-pandemic levels, all clearly indicating and confirming a recovery in the economy.

• Rentals of high-street retail are inching back to pre-Covid levels in Delhi-NCR on the back of revival in business, as rents in upscale Khan Market, South Extension and Connaught Place have risen 11-17 per cent during July-September compared to the previous quarter, according to Cushman and Wakefield.
