National Events- 

•  BSP president Mayawati on Tuesday questioned the "silence" of Congress leaders over the lynching of a Dalit youth in Rajasthan and suggested that the Supreme Court should take suo moto cognizance of the case as it had done in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in Uttar Pradesh.

•  A minor fire broke out on Tuesday at Bengal State secretariat Nabanna, sources adding the fire broke out on the 14th floor just above the office of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

•  A new modus operandi to woo potential targets towards narcotics is emerging fast in Kerala. The State has become a den of drug pushers and addicts, if the number of cases being busted by the excise and narcotics control departments are any indication. 

•  PDP president Mehbooba Mufti claimed on Tuesday that the Jammu & Kashmir administration had prior information about attacks on minority community members but ignored the inputs to provide security to Union ministers, who came here to amplify the BJP's "fake narrative and propaganda" about normalcy in the Union Territory.

• Massive searches continued during the day in the thickly forested area of Dera Ki Gali in Surankote area of Poonch on Tuesday to track down the footprints of the terrorists believed to be hiding in the area before moving towards Kashmir valley.

International Events- 

•  At least 29 people were killed, including 14 in a bus accident, as relentless rains triggered massive flooding in north China, authorities said on Tuesday. 

•  Russia offered the US on Tuesday to roll back several rounds of sanctions that have hampered the activities of their diplomatic missions, but reaffirmed its strong opposition to any US military presence in Central Asia.

• President Joe Biden is set to hold his first bilateral talks as president with an African leader on Thursday, hosting Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta as war and a humanitarian crisis roil neighbouring Ethiopia, according to the White House. 

• Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Tuesday that peace in South Asia was not possible without the resolution of the Kashmir issue. Qureshi made the remarks while addressing the 6th Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) through a video statement. 

• Russia registered a new record number of daily coronavirus deaths on Tuesday as it faced a rapid surge of contagion amid laggard vaccination rates. The government coronavirus task force reported 973 coronavirus deaths, the highest daily toll since the start of the pandemic.

•  Ace Indian sprinter Hima Das, who is making a comeback from a hamstring injury, on Wednesday revealed that she has tested positive for COVID-19 but is stable in isolation. Das, 21, reported to the national camp at National Institute of Sport (NIS) in Patiala recently.

• The World Cup qualifier between Albania and Poland was temporarily halted when Polish players walked off the field after Albanian fans threw water bottles at them while celebrating a goal.

•  Google on Tuesday announced the formation of a premier 'Cybersecurity Action Team' to support the security and digital transformation of governments, critical infrastructure, enterprises and small businesses, as nation-state hacking incidents grow.

•  At a time when crypto buzz is picking up in India, the time is ripe not only to create awareness but also build trust among the first-time investors in the country who are eagerly waiting to hear from the government on the next steps to follow on cryptocurrencies, Darshan Bathija, Co-founder and CEO of Vauld platform said on Tuesday.

• The usage of Google Maps went up by a whopping 125 times, when Facebook and its owned applications such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger faced a global outage earlier this month, according to a new report released on Wednesday. 

•  Smartphone brand realme launched a new smartphone 'realme GT Neo 2' with a 120Hz AMOLED display, triple rear cameras and 65W fast charging in the Indian market on Tuesday.

Economy – 

•  After scaling a record peak of 60,836.63 during the session, the 30-share Sensex settled 452.74 points or 0.75 per cent higher at 60,737.05, taking its winning run to the fifth consecutive day. Similarly, the Nifty rallied 169.80 points or 0.94 per cent to 18,161.75. It touched an intra-day record of 18,197.80.

•  Industrial production grew 11.9 per cent in August mainly due to a low-base effect and good performance by manufacturing, mining and power sectors that surpassed the pre-Covid level. 

• India’s economy, which contracted by 7.3 per cent due to the Covid-19 pandemic, is expected to grow by 9.5 per cent in 2021 and 8.5 per cent in 2022, according to latest projections released by the International Monetary Fund on Tuesday. 

•  In an unprecedented move, the Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday banned one of the country’s top chartered accountant firms Haribhakti & Co LLP from undertaking any type of audit assignments for regulated entities for a period of two years starting April 1, 2022. Haribhakti & Co LLP was the auditor of Srei Infrastructure Finance Limited (SIFL),whose board was superseded by the RBI and insolvency proceedings were initiated last week.

• GST Network on Tuesday said it has blocked Rs 14,000 crore worth of input tax credit (ITC) of 66,000 businesses registered under GST.

• The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has described 100 days of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in office as disappointing, deceptive and disastrous. 

• The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association of Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday strongly condemned alleged misbehaviour of Union Minister Bishweswar Tudu with its members at a meeting on October 9.  

•  Justice Arup Kumar Goswami was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

•  On the call of the Chhattisgarh Public Relations Officers Association, Public Relations Officers (PROs) and departmental employees across the state went on a one-day pen-down strike on Tuesday.

• The Chhattisgarh government on Tuesday announced 60 days of vacation in schools and colleges, inclusive of 46 days in summer. This will be applicable to government, private, grant and non-aided schools and D Ed, B Ed, M Ed colleges across the state, an order from the School Education Department said.
