TCS PAPER ON 16th MARCH
hi friends,
tcs on campus recuitment was held in our college.total 220 students appeared 4 the exam.finally 68 students got selected.im sending u the latest tcs paper which i got.as usual, the paper comprised of 3 sections(no -ive marking ,no sectional cutoff):
I Verbal Reasoning(20 min) :10 antonyms, 10 synonyms, 2 sentence completion passages(each containing abt 5 que)
II Quantitative Aptitude(40 min):38 questions
III Logical Reasoning(30 min): 3 passages(4 que each)
Verbal Reasoning:
Dont rely on Barrons word list 4 this section.except 4 two-three words none came frm barrons.u need 2 practice more words frm books like norman lewis etc.most of the words were new 2 me. as 4 sentence completion 2 passages were given.each passage had fill in the blank questions.8-9 option sentences were given 4 these blanks.i dont remember those passages.one was like dust in the office......destroy machines like fax,printers....some steps must b taken.....findings must b compiled in a report .......must b submitted 2 .......
Quantitative Aptitude:
this was the easiest & the most scoring of all sections.it was a piece of cake.all questions were repeated frm previous years papers.so practice them thoroughly.attempt all the questions since there was no -ive marking.i dont remember the exact sequence & the values given here may differ but the que were like:
1.a series given,insert missing no:8 9 10 12 _ 21 24 (sorry i dont remember the series exactly)
2. the largest prime no which can b stored in 7 bit register?
3.Find the value of @@+25-++@16, where @ denotes "square" and +
denotes "square root".
4.Find the result of the following expression if, M denotes modulus
operation, R denotes round-off, T denotes truncation: M(373,5)+R(3.4)+T(7.7)+R(5.8)(exact values may differ)
5. find units:

2-3 que based on data interpretation :a bar chart given on population statistics.by mistake they repeated 2 consecutive que as they were!
try 2 do as much que as u can bcoz u can make up 4 the loss of que in lr & verbal.dont cram answer 4 any que bcoz they may change the values.
Logical Reasoning:
3 passages were given each comprising of 4 que.try 2 do atleast 1 que correctly instead of going 4 guesswork.2 of them were frm barrons.
1. A group of ministers and prime minister sitting .The position of Ministers from
the Prime minister based on their ranks. A group of statements to identify their
positions and portfolios. Questions based on them.
2.republican & democrats names given.some r defense expert,economist......que based on a committee 2 b formed on given conditions.
3.another passage which i dont remmebe
soon the results were announced & i got thru.interviews were scheduled 4 the next day.
Technical interview:
it was more like a hr interview.a panel consisting of a lady & a gentleman took my interview.i entered wit a smile & wished them good evening.
man: so u live in....
i: yes sir
man: how hav u come here?
i: by bus,sir,the local city bus
lady: u dont come by college bus
i: no mam
man: do u like
i: yes sir,i think it has all the state of art facilities.
man: u mean its the best in the world!
i: not the best but its good enough.
man: u play kabbadi(i mentioned it as an extracurricular activity in my cv)
i: yes sir
man: hav u got physique required 4 it?
i: yes sir
man: (he wrote a 2x2 matrix)wot is its value?
i: its determinant is 0.
man tell me value of matrix.
i: a matrix has no value.
man: good
(they asked me abt my fav subjects back in school times.i answered th8 maths was my fav subject they asked basic questions on trigonometry.i answered all of them.) (next they asked que related 2 operating system :wot is an os?wot r its services?wot role does it play wen u turn on the power supply? a few que realted 2 my project.i answered most of them satisfactorily) soon the results were announced & i qualified 4 the hr interview.was required 2 fill a form.
HR interview:
my hr & mr interview were taken simultaneously. i waited for a long time but my name wasnt announced.finally,after waiting for 5 hrs,they called me at 11:45 pm. i was the last candidate 2 b interviewed!there were 2 interviewers again but this time there was a lady in her 30's & the most seniors of all panel members: a person well in his late 50's.again i entered wit a smile & they 2 smiled.i wished them both a very good evening.

i: i did my scoolimg frm ...... secured......come frm a middle class family blah blah blah
man: why shud v hire u?
i: sir,i hav got within me wot it takes 2 b a TCSer.i hav perseverance,commitment 2 work hard.possess quick learning ability.given an opportunity 2 work in tcs i'll put up my blood & sweat 2 work 4 the betterment of the company.
lady: mention
i: as i told,my strengths r perseverance:i never give up,wen i hav set up my eyes on a goal i can take up all pains 2 achieve it,i hav committment 2wards my work .my weakness is th8 im an emotional person.
lady: but being emotional is a good quality.
i: yes but i sometimes overdo it.for instance,i sumtimes offer a beggar some money & realise later th8 he doesnt deserve it,he shud hav worked 4 it.
lady: which websites do u visit?(i mentioned surfing as 1 of my hobby)
i: i mostly visit websites 4 the sake of collecting any sort of info.these include google,wikipedia. i also surf some sites related 2 games.
lady: wot is the special feature of wiki which other online dictionaries dont offer?
i: u can actually edit the info on wiki & submit
lady: do u know abt service agreement which u'll hav 2 sign if u got selected?
i: (told her th8 i know)
lady: r u ready 2 work anywhere in the country?
i: yes i love 2 go places.
lady: what'll u do if u r rejected?
i: 'll c the areas where i lagged,replan my strategies & bounce back.
man: which companies 'll u appear 4 ?
i: if the requirements of the companies meet my capabilities i'll appear 4 such companies.
lady: wot'll b
i :i shall b very happy.will inform my parents they 2 will b happy & will give me their blessings 2 succeed even more in life.
man: u r the last candidate 2 get interviewed,
i: sir,i'll put it up in a single sentence "reward awaits 4 the 1 who waits"
(this brought a millon $ smile on both persons faces.)
lady: u hav been waiting 4
i: no pains no gains
lady: (she smiled even more on this quick witted answer)ok u may go.
after a few minutes results were annnounced & i was finally selected! i think the biggest reason 4 my successs was my positive attitude & my infectious smile.i was smiling most of the time during my interview
