TCS PAPER ON 1ST FEBRUARY AT DIATM

Hi guyz, I am Arijit Datta from D.I.A.T.M. TCS visited our campus on 1st and 2nd Feb, '08.The Aptitude round questions were basically the repetations of the previous question papers but there were also many other questions which I didnt come across in any of the previous papers...So just don't mug it up, just see the procedures.

Our aptitude had 3 sections in which the first part was Verbal skills (English) .There were 10 synonyms and
10 antonyms and 12 other questions based on passages.. The passages were too lengthy, so be very fast in reading them.
TOTAL: Group-A  32 Questions, time:20 mins

Group-B consisted of the quantitative part. there were 38 questions and the time limit was 40 mins. This is the most scoring part,so practice a lot.If u cant understand difficult problems from previous papers, just mug up the answers. But it is advisable not to do so, because I, myself got only 6 questions out of 38 from previous papers.
TOTAL: Group-B  38 questions, time:40 mins

Group-C had the critical reasoning part where 3 passages were given and 12 questions were asked(4 from each). u'll get 30 mins for that. They were not too tough.
TOTAL: Group-C  12 questions, time:30 mins

Interview questions:
Our Technical and HR rounds were taken together. When I entered the room there was only one person in the room but after 10 mins with him another gentleman and a lady joined us. As i entered the room, he got up from his seat to help me with the chair.Now the questions:
Q. Tell me something about yourself that's not in the Blue form.
Q. What qualities do u think u have in u for which i would recruit u and not someone else?
Q. What are the qualities u feel a leader should have?
i said a leader should be understanding and should not boss over,coz he's the leader of a group of which everyone is of the same post/status
Q. So do u think a leader doesn't need 2 have any technical knowledge?
i said that is a must. but only a sound technical knowledge is not enough to be a leader. One can be an employee but cannot lead with only Technical knowledge.
Q. u think u have those qualities in u?
Q. dont u think a leader needs to have good problem solving abilities and reasoning capabilities?
i said yes

HE GAVE ME 2 PUZZLES AND A PROBLEM ON FIBONANCY SERIES. ONE of them was like this:
1.u're given 2 ropes of equal lengths both of which takes one hour to burn. if u don't have a watch, how can u say 15 mins have passed after the lighting of the ropes?
another one was:
2 trains start with a speed of 5 and 10kmph 90 km apart in opp directions.a  bird sitting on the engine of the first train has a gliding speed of 2kmph.the bird decides to jump from one engine to another repeatedly till the trains cross each other. What is the total distance travelled by the bird?
ans. the bird can not even make one complete flight from one engine to other before the trains cross.as far as i can recall the ans. will be 12km. just do the calculations and check it out.
Q. u said in your hobbies that u like cars.do u know the spelling of "LIMOUSINE"
Q. What is double linked list? structure? pointer?
Q. difference between http and https.
Q. name a site hosted as https?
Q. what is the full form of SMTP?
Q. Why do u wanna join TCS?
Q. If u have a campussing from INTEL tomorrow and if u can crack it would you quit TCS?
Q. INTEL is world no.1 in core Elecronics and TCS is Asia no.1 .Being a student of Electronics why wouldn't u join intel?
Q. If u get the job today what are the steps that u will take before joining the company? how will u prepare yourself?
Q. If u r the leader of a team and u see one of ur members cannot perform good in spite of all your efforts to help him. Are you going to report to  your higher official or will u just hide the fact?
Q. If u r placed at Madagaskar are you willing to go?
Q. where are the places u've visited in India or Abroad?
