Candidate-Experiences

Hi Friends,
I am Tarun Prashar studing in B.Tech. in Seth Jai Parkash Mukand Lal institute of Engg. & Tech., Radaur, Yamunanagar, Hayana. Recently TCS visited our college and the result was like this

Total Students Appeared  380

Written Cleared 169

Total Finally Selected 102

The pattern of test was like this:

Online written test:

It has three sections namely Verbal, Aptitude Part and Analytical Reasoning.

Section 1 : Verbal Part 32 questions 20 mins

10 antonyms, 10 synonyms, 6 fill in the blanks,6 questions from reading comprehension.

Only one thing I want to say don’t spend much time on antonym and synonym as fill in the blanks and comprehension takes a long time & 20 mins are sometimes less.

Section 2: Quantitative ability 38 ques 40 mins

The pattern of this part has been changed from last few years. In previous years there were a lot of questions from ‘Time & Work’ and ‘Longitude & Latitude’ , ‘Plane Problems’ etc but in our paper and also in papers of other colleges whom i have consulted the main stress was questions from ‘Percentage’, ‘Data Sufficiency Questions’ , ‘Numbers’ , ‘Ages Problems’ ,Ratio & Proportion’ ,etc.

For this section refer Quantitative Aptitude by R.S. Aggarwal

Section 3: Analytical Reasoning 12 questions 30 mins

There are different questions based on information given.

For this part practice Model Test Papers 1 to 5 from Barron’s
12th edition. We were given 3 conditions with 4 questions of each i.e, total 12 questions in this section. Our whole batch get 2 out of these 3 conditions (situations) from GRE Barron’s Model Test Papers 1 to 5 12th edition & third one can be easily solved if you have practice these model test papers.

One more thing solve those parts which have 4 or more questions in the model test papers as you will get only those questions. Prepare this part of analytical reasoning well as it is quite scoring and there is no sectional cutoff in TCS written test and Verbal part is hard to score.

Technical Interview:

 1. Prepare your resume well. Its your first impression. Don’t include the things that you don’t know into your resume.

2. Prepare the projects undertaken by you.

3.  Prepare all the basic concepts and questions from C, C++, Operating System, Software Engg., Data Structures, Computer Networks, C Pointers, Java (if mentioned in your resume). These subjects are for those students who are from CS background. The students from other branches need to prepare their core subjects along with concepts of C and Data Structures.

 4. Prepare at least one subject well.

Managerial Review:

Be confident and calm.

Questions were

1.      Introduce yourself

2.      Speak about anything for 5 mins. (Be prepared for this in advance)

3.      Given a situation and wanted its solution.

They check nothing but your confidence and whether you can manage things out or not.

Sometimes in this round too technical questions are asked and sometimes general questions are asked in this round.

 HR Interview:

This is final phase of selection process.

Main questions are:

Introduce yourself.
Tell about ur hobbies.
Your strengths & weaknesses.
What is your aim/goal.
Where do u find urself after 5 years.
Why TCS. (Prepare it well)
If not in TCS, Then what.
Your role model.
Do you know about the bond of 50000 for 2 years.
Any preferable place to work. (Tell them you are ready to work anywhere across the globe)
Any questions from ur side. (Ask a question which shows ur interest towards the company like where we are going to get trainings, etc) and that’s it, with it all of the process was over.

We were told to go back, relax & wait for results. I have completed my interview on 10th feb 2010 at 9:30 pm & the result was announced on 11th feb at 4 pm & then

 History was created.

102 students finally cleared the final selection and fortunately i was one of them. So, relax, prepare well and be confident you can surely got through the selection procedure.

BEST OF LUCK.

Regards,
Tarun Prashar
