It was an absolute mind blowing experience. To get a Job in TCS that too in first go was fantastic… TCS came to our college on 28^thdecember for the apti. Out of 350 students 283 cleared the aptitude round. 350 students were divided into 3 slots. Top 5 students from all the departments need not to appear for the apti. they had to face the interview only….We had our interview on 30th december.

I AM FROM ECE DEPARTMENT!

The aptitude rounds were very easy. You just need to go through the 70 patterns given in freshersworld that will be enough for u to crack the apti. It was an online test.

They will give u a form go through it very carefully.

TOUCHSTONE software is used by TCS which contains around 2.5-3 lacs questions. 35 questions will appear on your screen one after the other and the time allotted is 80 min. Don’t worry!!! calculators are allowed. If u r sure u can answer the question or skip the question. it will reappear once again.

I answered exactly 29 question and I was absolutely sure about those questions. Be careful there was    –ve marking. 1marks deducted for 3 wrong answers  so try not to answer the questions which u don’t know.

Q1 There are two water tanks A and B, A is much smaller than B. While water fills at the rate of 1 liter every hour in A, it gets filled up like, 10, 20, 40, 80, 160 in tank B. (At the end of first hour, B has 10 liters, second hour it has 20 liters and so on). If tank B is 1/32 filled of the 21 hours, what is total duration of hours required to fill it completely?
a) 26 B)25 c)5 d)27

Q2. 20 people are there, they are shaking hands together, how many hand shakes possible, if they are in no pair of cyclic sequence.

If the speed of Mohan's Mercedes is 35 km/hr and the distance traveled by the Ferrari is 490 km, find the total time taken for Rohit to drive that distance.

Solution: Speed of Ferrari =4*35=140,time=distance/velocity,

This question appeared twice for me. Try not to leave such questions these are very easy.

Q4. For the FIFA world cup, Paul the octopus has been predicting the winner of each match with amazing success. It is rumored that in a match between 2 teams A and B, Paul picks A with the same probability as A’s chances of winning. Let’s assume such rumors to be true and that in a match between Ghana and Bolivia, Ghana the stronger team has a probability of 12/13 of winning the game. What is the probability that Paul will correctly pick the winner of the Ghana-Bolivia game?

Solution: Let the number be x,
((1/2)*x)=3+(1/6)*x,
Then solve x… back calculation is the best option.

Q11. 10 programers, type 10 lines with in 10 minutes then 60lines can type within 60 minutes. How many programmers are needed?

This question appeared 3 times for me in all the 3 forms. find no. of prog, calculate time, calculate no. of lines. This is a must solve questions.

Q14. Almost, exactly and at most problems. Almost- 1^st half are true, exactly- the 2^nd last statement is true, at most- all are true..

Now let me share my interview experience with all of you.

I FACED 1 HOUR AND 5 MINTUES LONG INTERVIEW. ONLY TECHNICAL NO HR FOR ME!*!*

NECESSARY Conditions:

1^st: don’t get nervous

2^nd: always keep a smiling face

3^rd: eye contact is very  important part

4^th: use terms like please, thank you

5^th: try to be humble, down to earth.

The interviewer gave me puzzles to solve, asked me questions from basic mathematics (class-x). Then he started to ask questions related to C, DATA STRUCTURE and NETWORKING.

Interviewer: what is TYPECASTING?

Interviewer: what is TELNET?

Interviewer: what is structure?

Interviewer: swapping two variables?

Interviewer: what is IP Addressing?

Interviewer: What is physical layer?

Interviewer: what is switch/hub/router?

Interviewer: what is encryption?

Our results were announced on 31st i.e. the very next day. 171 students were selected and i was one of them.. what a feeling..what aaa feeling! and what a time to get such a news it was NEW YEAR TIME GUYS WOW and finally the time came to PARTY HARDER!

Don’t panic the panel  are very cool and helping and they will make you feel comfortable.
