Hi, I am suvamay sahoo ,final year chemical engg student of Jadavpur University . I have Selected as a GET 2014 .This year RIL selects 32 students from JU ( 10 from chemical Engg ,8from mechanical engg ,8 from electrical engg , 2 from instrumentation ,4 from metallurgy !!
Reliance RIL Mainly ,there are 2rounds ----->
1) Aptitude test
2) PI-Personal Interview
Reliance RIL Aptitude test consist of 2 rounds ....
General aptitude : 30 ques in 30 min (simple mathematics problem , verbal (7ques) ......
Reliance RIL-Technical round
Technical Aptitude : basics of chemical engg : if you are preparing for gate you will be able to correct all the ques .50ques in 30 mins
Technical aptitude : dimensionless number (power number, grash of number) ,process contro l(different types of process are given , which one is first order ? , chemical reaction engg ( pfr - cstr -pfr in series , what will be the graph ?? options are given ,chemical technology ( which one is syn gas , water gas? ) , heat transfer ( various ques from gate ) , fluid mech ( gate ) , mass transfer (gate ) , but truly speaking !! , the questions are very easy !!!
22 students were selected for personal interview out of 44 students (only for chemical engg)

Now coming to the interview part :
interview was cool !!!!
After little bit conversation ,interviewer has given me some problems to solve ( mainly gate problem)
1) In an orifice meter, if the pressure drop across the orifice is overestimated by 5% then the PERCENTAGE error in the measured flow rate is ??? (gate2011)
2)Consider two lack bodies with surfaces S1 (area = 1 m2) and S2 (area = 4 m2). They exchange heat only by radiation. 40% of the energy emitted by S1 is sreceived by S2. The fraction of energy emitted by S2 that
is received by S1 is ??? (gate -2011)
3)Consider the following set of linear algebraic equations
x1+ 2 x2+ 3 x3 = 2, x2+ x3 = 1, 2 x2+ 2 x3 = 0
The system has
(A) a unique solution, (B) no solution,(C) an infinite number of solutions, (D) only the trivial solution (gate 2012)
One ques from my 3rd year summer intern at IOCL HAldia Refinery : main Objective of CRU ??
End othermic reactions are taking place in CRU ? I was able to solve all the ques except one permutation - combination problem !!

a) various ques from 3rd year summer intern (v imp) (heaters , hort on sphere,CDU,overview of refinery )
b) ques from heat exchnagers
c) problems mainly from gate
d)why horton sphere is spherical ?
e) fluid mechanics (orifice venturi ) (i can't remind but it was easy , just u have to clear the aptitude round !!) f)another problem :if you increase the diameter of an impeller by twice , what will be the effect on power no ? (gate -2012 )
g)some ques from plant economics were also asked(turn over , NPV ,capitalized cost )
10 students are selected out of 22 students .
note : concentrate on3rd yr summer training ,refer previous year gate papers and solutions
