Hai friends..............................this is Vinod Singh Amar from Department of Chemical Engineering, R.V.R & J.C College of Engineering, Guntur, A.P Welcome to the world of core jobs. Wishing u all the best for your career in the everlasting CORE field espacially in field of CHEMICAL ENGINEERING.
Well, about ESSAR,the selection process in divided into five modes:
1)Preplacement Talks
2)Online Test
3)Group Discussion
4)Technical Interview
5)H.R Interview
Being a chemical engineering final year undergraduate student, we were offered off-campus at VVSR engg college at vijaiwada
At first, there was a preplacement talk section, where all the other college students who came to attend the off campus selection irrespective of all branches(Chemical, EEE, Mech, EIE) attended in the seminar hall. The HR manager of ESSAR gave a brief discussion about the company. And then he explained the procedure for the written online aptitude test (which was the next step). Finally he asked us whether we have any doubts reg their company.I was the only one who dared to ask a small doubt for which i recieved a clear answer. So be prepared for one to three questions to ask about the company, where the manager wants to test our skills.
At second stage(Espacially for CHEMICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS ONLY) the talks lasted for an hour, and after mechanical completed the written test, we were called for the written test which lasted for two hours.there are four sub- sections in the written test :
1)quantative section half an hour(40 questions)
2)verbal section half an hour(40 questions)
3)logical reasoning half an hour(40 questions)
4)technical section half an hour(40 questions)
Note that all the sections may appear in any order in the online test. So please dont panic...Please be fully prepared. Beware that TIMER IS RED IN COLOR ON THE SCREEN......so time management is most important. there will be a sectional cut off of 9 each in the 1, 2, 3 sections (as above) and 23 for 4 section (given above).
So prepare your self to clear the cutt off mark.
1)In quantative section there will be model bits from GRE baron, and R.S Agarwal(like time and distance, simple and compound interest, data intrepretation, profit and loss, ratios and proportions, mixtures, Coding and Decoding from rs agarwal topics)
2)For Verbal section stress mainly on the reading comphrension and jumbled sentences(you will clear the cut off).No anologies or antonymsor synonyms will be given.
3)For verbal Reasoning, Apart from R.S Agarwal, please follow the material which I am giving you .
4)In order to qualify in technical section, strictly mugg up or read G.K Publications..GATE book, in which read mainly Chemcial Technology Section from which 90 % of the bits will be appearing especially from polymers and Miscellaneous Exercises.
After you have cleared the online test there will be a groupdiscussion where there will be a additinal score for Speaking First in the team( INITIATION).
Speak confidently with eye to eye contact (For this you must be a good liar in your daily life) for two to three times and always try to conclude the topic by yourself at the end.
