  • Deptt. of Posts, Delhi Circle opens 3rd all-Women Post Office in the national capital. The third all-Women Sub Post Office Nanak Pura, was inaugurated on 6th March under New Delhi South West Division to commemorate the International Women’s Day celebrations.
  • PM hands over Twitter handle to women achievers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that women achievers from across India will share their life stories and journey through his social media accounts on the occasion of International Women's Day. 
  • Ex-law minister and senior Congress leader HR Bhardwaj dies of cardiac arrest. Hansraj Bhardwaj breathed his last at the Max Hospital, Saket, where he was admitted since Wednesday due to Kidney-related issues, It was during Bhardwaj's tenure as law minister that Bofors-accused Ottavio Quattrocchi was given a clean chit by then UPA government.
  • Ex-J&K minister Altaf Bukhari floats new political outfit JK Apni Party in Srinagar. Flanked by political leaders, including former MLAs, former finance minister Bukhari announced that the new party was an outfit "of the commoners, by the commoners and for the commoners".He called it a platform for the common people, rejecting the idea of dynastic politics.
  • HAL plans logistics bases in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. State-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aerospace Ltd (HAL) Chairman said the company is seriously focusing on boosting exports in sync with the government's priority to sell key platforms like Tejas, attack helicopter Rudra

 

INTERNATIONAL

  • McCoy Tyner, iconic and influential jazz pianist, dies. McCoy Tyner, the groundbreaking and influential jazz pianist and the last surviving member of the John Coltrane Quartet, has died at 81. In 2002, he was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts.
  • Saudi Arabia slashes prices, reigniting a market share battle among key producers. The battle ended when the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and World's No. 2 oil producer Russia struck a deal to deepen production cuts aimed at shoring up prices.

 

SPORTS

  • Manpreet Singh and Rani Rampal players of the year
  • The captains capped an eventful 2019 as Hockey India Player of the Year and Harbinder Singh was honoured for his lifetime contribution to the game at the 3rd annual Hockey India Awards.
  • Johnny Bravo claims Guindy Grand Prix. The Neil Darashah-trained Jonny Brovo looked good among six contenders in the Guindy Grand Prix (Grace-3) 1600 metres, a term for horses 3-years-old only and the feature event of the races held at Mumbai Race Course on Sunday.
  • The Indian Fed Cup team created history on Saturday night by progressing to the playoffs for the first time ever with Ankita Raina leading the side to a 2-1 win over Indonesia in Dubai. The Indian women’s tennis team had entered a territory never explored by its predecessors-a place in the Fed Cup playoffs.
