NATIONAL

  • Land acquisition flawed without actual receipt of compensation, said Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ruled the process of land acquisition would be flawed in the absence of actual receipt of compensation, noting that even though right to property is no more fundamental right, it still remains a constitutional right.
  • Mobile-based app made mandatory for drivers of water supply tankers in Karnataka. The districts that face the drinking water crisis during summer are largely dependent on tankers. Though the process is considered as the best option to prevent the misuse of funds and ensure that water reaches the people.
  • 82 Divyang Artisans and Entrepreneurs from 17 States/UTs Displaying their Products and Skills at ‘Ekam Fest’.Around 82 Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs coming from 17 States/ UTs are showcasing their products at the week-long Exhibition-cum-Fair organized by National Handicapped Finance Development Corporation (NHFDC) under M/o Social Justice and Empowerment.

  • Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa dissolves Parliament. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa set new elections for April 25, in which he aims to secure a strong majority that will enable him to push for constitutional changes to increase presidential powers.
  • U.S Federal Reserve cuts key interest rate due to COVID-19 virus risk. In a unanimous decision, the Fed’s policy-setting committee cut its key interest rate by a half-point to a range of 1.0-1.25.

  • NBCC gets NCLT nod to acquire Jaypee Infratech through insolvency process. In its hearing on Tuesday, the Principal bench of NCLT,headed by Acting President B S V Prakash Kumar, gave a go-ahead to the resolution plan of NBCC
