Hi Frends,
Im pursuing final yr M.E.(ece dept) in P.S.G college of technology,Coimbatore,Tamilnadu....
Cognizant (CTS) came for us as on-campus drive on 1-9-2011....previously there was a pre placement talk on 30-08-2011....around 1200 students opted for placement....
But cts provided direct interview for those who attained 75% and above in all X,XII,U.G.,P.G (if applicable).....
hence they shortlisted 535 for direct interview and rest to write written exam......
I was one among those who wrote written exam....
The pattern consists of 2 sections...
Analytical- 30 ques and Verbal- 25 ques....each 30 mins duration....
Analytical section was very very easy as that u could complete in 20 mins......The ques would be like below....
1) find the odd figure out...(1 ques)
2) syllogisms( including 2 statements which are mostly asked)....(2 ques)
3) Statement inference (true or false like)......(2 ques)
4) logically follws...(4 ques)
5) data sufficiency.....(2 ques)
6) puzzle test...(4 ques)........they would be time consuming ,if u practice those on r.s.agarwal quans and verbal-non verbal u could crack it soon......
7) coding,decoding....(4 ques)......very very easy its just alphabets getting shifted nothing else....
8) figure sequence....(4 ques).....within 2 mins u could answer
9) find the fig that match the given figure....(3 ques)
10) data interpretation....(4 ques on a pie chart or table)
In general for all the above practice on r.s.agarwal verbal n non verbal recent edition.....its more than sufficient.......
Verbal section seems to be little tough as u find no time to complete it.....But good practice makes ur way....
1) identify correct n incorrect sentence......(10 ques)
2) two big passages consisting each 5 ques.....(10 ques)...do it last becoz the ques would be lik whats the conclusion lik that which takes time.....
3) jumble sentence.....(5 ques).....easiest part in the paper....do it first if u r not strong on sentence correction....
Refer T.I.M.E materials GRE baron's(if possible but not that necessary),moreover basic knowledge on english grammar(articles,prepos,gerunds,....) would be sufficient....
There were no negative marks.....I was bit confident that i would select....
Among 700 studs they shorlisted 501....i was one among...
cut off would be low for on-campus.....probably ( 14 for analytical n 12 for verbal).....but dont stick to it.....
We were called for interview on 3-09-2011.....Now the strength for interview is around 1050...
There were 50 panels....
My H.R. was very cool....That after a while
I forgot that im in interview....
H.R.: Welcome,mahesh ...
Me: Good aftn sir,....
H.R.: he gave shake voluntarily....
me: I sat comfortably n was eager to answer his ques....always hav smile on ur face as it sows that u r confident....
H.R.: well, u r from coimbatore (cbe)..
me: yes sir,definitely...
H.R: say 3 good points abt cbe n one thing which u lik to change in cbe...
me: i said abt water,climate, n entry of I.T sectors.....
H.R.: he was impressed on the way i presented....(better have continuation in speech)
me: waitin for next....
H.R.: well, being ece stud y u prefer IT
me: i answered those wit reference to wat i learnt from freshers world n other forums...
H.R: explain GSM working....
me: he gave me an paper....i drawn the archictre n presented.....
H.R: fine,...wats diff bwn 2g n 3g...
me: explained well....
H.R: u know c ,c++?
me: yes sir, i could manage....
H.R: write algo to print 2 if input is 1,and print 1 if i/p is 2.....with 2 conditions....u should not use condn stmts, swapping.....
me: i tried wit function return algo....but cant complete it...wit smile i said i cant proceed sir....
H.R: no problem....jus leave it....
me: even though i was cool.......
H.R: explain your project.....as i mentioned my project on 3g/adhoc systems in resume....
me: explaine well.....he was eagely listening wat im saying....
H.R: well perfect, good project n good ground work done by u.....
me: smiled,said thank u sir....
H.R: alright any ques u lik to ask?
me: 2 ques sir....first- on wat areas i should improve my skills to work from day one in ur cmpny....i askd to know his evaluation abt me....
H.R: fine, expertise on oracle, or java n one database subject....
me: sure sir.....second-how abt my presentation ....
H.R: i cant say u directly....he said wit smile.....
me: i know that i will definetely got selected...
H.R: stood from chair n gave shaken n said thank u....
me: thank u very much sir...n left the room...
through out my interview we both were very cool and after a while i even forget that im inside interview.....
So folks, be confident in watever u know...they dont look for correct answers jus ur boldness n determination....have a loud speech.....
by evening 8 pm they announced the result stating that i got selected....
700 out of 1050 got selected.....as it is the largest in tamilnadu.....
At this moment im very thankfull to my parents n brother who always supported me..n faith on god...n my friends....n last but not least the freshersworld.com, which gave good ideas in what i expect.......
