  • 1673 – Second Battle of Khotyn in Ukraine: Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth forces under the command of Jan Sobieski defeat the Ottoman army. In this battle, rockets made by Kazimierz Siemienowicz are successfully used.

  • 2006 – Queen Elizabeth II unveils the New Zealand War Memorial in London, United Kingdom, commemorating the loss of soldiers from the New Zealand Army and the British Army.

  • 2011 – A helicopter crash just outside Mexico City kills seven, including Francisco Blake Mora the Secretary of the Interior of Mexico.[6]

  • 2012 – A strong earthquake with the magnitude 6.8 hits northern Burma, killing at least 26 people.

  • 2014 – Fifty-eight people are killed in a bus crash in the Sukkur District in southern Pakistan's Sindh province.

  • 2020 – Typhoon Vamco makes landfall in Luzon and several offshore islands. The storm caused the worst floods in the region since Typhoon Ketsana in 2009 and killed 67 people

National Events- 

  • India and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) have entered into an agreement to set up the body’s country office, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said here on Wednesday. Yadav is in Glasgow, representing India at the ongoing 26th climate conference COP26. 

  •  A Kolkata-bound Air India flight with 144 passengers on board made an emergency landing minutes after taking off from the Kumbhirgram Airport in Silchar after one of its landing gears malfunctioned.

  •  With the objective of joint production of hi-tech weapons and systems, India and the US on Wednesday virtually held the 11th Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) Group meeting.

  •  Indigenously designed and manufactured Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) will for the first time perform aerobatics at the prestigious Dubai Air Show held biennially. This year’s show will take place from November 14 to 18.

  • The Congress on Wednesday said it would launch nationwide mass agitation programme Jan Jagran Abhiyan from November 14 to 29, where it would reach out to people to explain how the Union Government’s “failed economic policies” have led to runaway inflation.

International Events- 

  • Covid deaths in Russia hit a new record on Tuesday and new confirmed cases remained high two days after a nine-day non-working period ended in most of the country’s regions. The state coronavirus task force reported 1,211 Covid-19 deaths, the highest daily death toll in the pandemic, and 39,160 new cases. 

  •  Polish riot police reinforced Poland’s eastern border on Tuesday, a day after hundreds of migrants tried to storm across the razor-wire border fence from Belarus. Thousands of migrants still remained on the Belarussian side and Polish authorities feared the tense standoff could escalate.

  • German Chancellor Angela Merkel asked Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday to intervene with Belarus over the migrant situation on that country's border with Poland, where groups of migrants made bold attempts this week to cross into European Union territory. 

  •  Tibet's exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama says China's leaders "don't understand the variety of different cultures" and that the ruling Communist Party's penchant for tight social control can be harmful.

  • Britain's Prince Harry has sharply attacked the failure of social media companies to challenge hate online, revealing that he warned the chief executive of Twitter ahead of the Jan. 6 Capitol riots that the site was being used to stage political unrest.

  •  Pakistan batters Mohammad Rizwan and Shoaib Malik are suffering from "mild flu" and they could be doubtful starters for the T20 World Cup semifinal against Australia on Thursday. Rizwan and Malik, who missed the team's training session on Wednesday, though tested negative for COVID-19.

  •  New Zealand entered the final of the ICC T20 World Cup with a five-wicket win over England in a thrilling first semifinal here on Wednesday.

  •  Pakistan seem primed to win their second title but it will take a special effort to upstage a tenacious Australia, which is peaking at the right time, in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup here on Thursday.

  •  India captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday thanked the team’s outgoing head coach Ravi Shastri and other members of the support staff, whose tenure ended at the T20 World Cup, lauding them for their contribution in preparing a formidable outfit.

  • Madhya Pradesh pacer Avesh Khan, who earned a national call-up for the T20 series against New Zealand on Wednesday said that his dream to represent the country has been fulfilled.

  • An upcoming Apple iOS update will allow parents to protect their children and help them learn to navigate online communication in Messages. The second developer beta of iOS 15 (iOS 15.2) includes support for its new communication safety feature in Messages. 

  • Apple's largest manufacturing partner Foxconn is moving ahead with a plan to acquire a Lordstown Motors vehicle assembly plant in Ohio for $230 million 

  •  From sending out 40 million potentially life-saving alerts, in the first three years, Google almost tripled the alerts by sending out "over 115 million" in 2021

  •  Google is reportedly working on a new Search option shortcut. The floating shortcut will let you conduct a voice or text search quickly from your home screen.

  • Microsoft has started to roll out Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22499 to the Dev Channel. The company has also released new ISO images of the latest Windows

Economy – 

  •  Billionaire Gautam Adani on Thursday said his logistics-to-energy conglomerate will invest USD 70 billion over the next decade to become the world's largest renewable energy company and produce the cheapest hydrogen on the Earth.

  •  The recent decision of the Central Government to cut the excise duty on diesel and petrol is significantly positive for inflation, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das said on Wednesday. He said food inflation is now under control, but core inflation continues to remain elevated.

  •  The equity benchmark Sensex tumbled by 433.13 points or 0.72 per cent to close at 59,919.69 points as 24 of its scrips declined. The index had opened lower and later touched a day's low of 59,656.26 points as banking giants SBI and ICICI Bank and HDFC took a beating. The 50-issue Nifty of the National Stock Exchange declined by 143.60 points or 0.80 per cent to end at 17,873.60 points. As many as 41 of its stocks declined.

  • Markets regulator Sebi has amended the regulatory regime governing alternative investment funds (AIFs),to facilitate co-investment through the portfolio management route.

  •  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday inaugurated a State-of-the-art mega dairy processing plant in Cuttack district. The ` 273-crore Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (Omfed) plant at Arlio near Cuttack city will increase farmers' incomes and benefit around 6 lakh agriculturists, Patnaik said in his address. Technical consultancy for the plant has been provided by NDDB.
