National Events-

• The Government on Monday claimed that 3.08 crore jobs were generated in nine sectors in the April-June quarter of 2021-22, reflecting a growth of 29 per cent. These nine selected sectors are Manufacturing, Construction, Trade, Transport, Education, Health, Accommodation and Restaurant, IT/ BPO and Financial Services.

But their fate is in the hands of a conservative, mostly male governing party — and the leading female candidate has been criticized by observers for her right-wing gender policies.

Economy – 

•  The Centre on Monday announced the launch of the “second attempt” of auction process for 11 coal mines for commercial mining.

•  About 99 per cent of Indian business travellers aim to resume work trips within the next 12 months, a new study showed on Monday. Over 78 per cent are “very willing” to get back on work trips which is higher than the global average.

•  The Income Tax department has detected unaccounted income of over Rs 300 crore following raids on a group of four major steel rolling mills based in Maharashtra, the CBDT claimed on Monday.

•  The public sector mining company NMDC asserts that an equal amount has been sanctioned for the development work of all villages from Bacheli to Nagarnar covered under its ambitious Slurry Pipeline Project.

• The 30-share Sensex was trading 124.32 points or 0.21 per cent lower at 59,953.56. Similarly, the Nifty declined 21.40 points or 0.12 per cent to 17,833.70.
