  • Thomson Reuters appoints Steve Hasker as CEO. Hasker, 50, was most recently a top executive at Hollywood talent agency CAA and a senior adviser to TPG Capital.

 

NATIONAL

  • National Science Day: PM Modi hails talent of Indian scientists. National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28 to mark the discovery of the Raman effect by Indian physicist Sir C V Raman on this day in 1928.
  • Punjab reduces retirement age for govt employees to 58 years. Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal, while presenting the state budget, took this step in a bid to boost jobs in the state.

 

ECONOMY 

  • Jeff Bezos teams up with Narayana Murthy to enter India's food delivery biz. Amazon will take on established players such as Zomato and Swiggy with the launch of the service, which would be offered as part of either Amazon’s Prime Now or Amazon Fresh platform.
  • India's Q3 GDP growth at 4.7%. The Gross Domestic Product ( GDP) growth was registered at 5.6 per cent in the corresponding quarter of 2018-19, as per the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO).

 

SPORTS

  • Coronavirus impact: India pulls out of shooting World Cup in Cyprus. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has decided to pull out the Indian team from the March 4-13 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Shotgun World Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus, due to novel coronavirus scare.
